The Sanctuary

It was set up in the year 1931 by the Mysore Maharajahs as his private chasing park. Later in 1941 it was extended by abutting Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Nagarhole), Kerala's Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Tamil Nadu's Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in the south to constitute the Niligiri Biosphere Reserve. Bandipur is arranged in the Chamarajanagar District of Karnataka state in India and spreads a region of around 874.2 square kilometers.
